A Top American Investment Bank is looking to hire a Climate Risk Developer to be responsible for the hands-on development of models for the purpose of assessing the impacts of climate change on the firm's portfolios and activities. This position will roll up to the Head of the Group and have both hands-on quantitative responsibilities along with a business-facing aspect as well.
The candidate will be responsible for developing climate risk models to be used for stress testing and credit assessment purposes, forcing on portfolio credit losses and probabilities of default, and for translating climate scenarios into impacts to assess the necessary changes for the current model frameworks for the firm. The hands-on functions of the role will entail the development, analysis, implementation, model testing, and validation of climate risk models as well as developing and enhancing the existing modeling infrastructure. This will collaborate with the first and second lines of defense as well to help communicate key aspects of the models to stakeholders and senior management.
The firm is ideally looking for candidates with at least 6+ years of experience covering model development, prior experience in climate risk or data science, proficiency in Python, and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Developing climate risk models to be used for credit assessment and stress testing purposes
- Data analysis, implementation, validation, and model testing of credit risk models
- Developing and enhancing the modeling infrastructure for climate risk modeling activities
- Working closely with the first and second lines of defense to communicate all key modeling findings to senior management
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in a model development function
- Prior experience in climate risk
- Proficiency in Python
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to sit in a business-facing position
